The Kashmir Villa is a historic structure on The Doon School campus, forming part of its unique architectural and cultural heritage. As part of the school’s comprehensive conservation strategy, the project aimed to restore and repurpose the Villa into comfortable, modern faculty housing.

The challenge was to introduce contemporary amenities and living standards into the old building while retaining its historic character and sense of place. The approach adopted was heritage-led design, with interventions that were minimal yet effective in ensuring longevity, comfort, and functionality.The project successfully demonstrates how institutional heritage buildings can be adapted for present-day needs without compromising their historic integrity.
