Lady Hardinge Medical College, the oldest women’s and children’s hospital in Northern India, had evolved incrementally without a masterplan, leading to cramped spaces, inefficient circulation, and poor accessibility for emergency services. With rising patient loads, the hospital was under severe pressure. This project built on an earlier 2003 scheme and developed a comprehensive masterplan to guide the campus’s redevelopment. The plan proposed adaptive reuse of significant heritage buildings, removal of intrusive structures, and introduction of new facilities compatible with both modern medical needs and historic character. ATA undertook mapping, building inventories, and documentation of heritage structures, along with preparation of a conservation strategy. The work was approved by DUAC and HCC and created a roadmap for balancing healthcare efficiency with heritage values
